Sulphuric acid anodising
Sulphuric acid anodising is the most common protective treatment for aluminium and leaves a clear (“natural”) silver coloured finish, which can be subsequently dyed.
Anodising is generally used where a decorative and corrosion resistant finish is required. The resulting anodic film is usually between 5 and 20 microns thick and is electrically insulating.

Coating Thickness
Sulphuric acid anodising provides a coating of between 5-20µm with a thicker coating giving a greater corrosion resistance. Where colour dyeing is required a surface coating of 15-25µm is recommended.
Sealing
- Hot De-mineralised Water Seal
Surface Preparation
- Pre-treatment/Etching - to reduce surface scratches

Surtec 650
We offer Surtec 650, a chromium free passivation for aluminium, which is based on trivalent chromium which offers excellent corrosion resistance comparable to hexavalent passivation. Surtec 650 produces an iridescent, faintly blue visible layer suitable as a pretreatment before lacquering, powder coating or gluing.
Alocrom 1200
We offer Alocrom 1200, a chromium passivation for aluminium which produces a gold coloured coating which offers good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance and is the most common Alocrom finish requested by our customers.
